It’s all in the LINES. 

The line connects everything, forms everything, divides everything. Lines describe, intersect, go off on a tangent and show you the path. There are life lines, lines of force, genetic lines, boundary lines, and lines that are not really lines even though the eye sees a line. It’s all in the line.

        This is a new series of works, born of the need to distill the image and escape the pressure of perfect. I hope this series will find new imagery and a new direction for my paintings. The line is a search and a path which is ongoing. There will be more.

The background color is the result of roughly 8 layers of color, starting with a golden yellow. There is no black or white. Exhibited August/Sept. 2010.

Abstracted cityscapes; seeking the things you perceive in the urban landscape but never really see. Many of these images are based on real downtown Dallas locations.  Most are acrylics on various supports including gessoed watercolor paper, fabric and canvas.

Things you never see, but wish you could. Idyllic moments in the not-so-domestic natural world. Perhaps, if you sit quietly in your garden, you will glimpse your own draconic denizens. Be careful, they are shy and may bite. You will also find some smaller designs including Yule dragons and various drawings in this collection.

Zodiac sign dragons, each created with the appropriate colors, flowers, elements and stones according to "The Only Astrology Book You'll Ever Need" by Joanna Martine Woolfolk. There are the original watercolors of this series, currently in progress, and a complete set of the Zodiac dragons in B&W, without flowers etc.  Contact Barbara about availability as cards and small prints.

Floral and plant images, close-up, cropped and full of color. The influence of Georgia O'Keeffe is strong here! SUNFLOWER is a tiny watercolor, 6x4".
